Bristol Stag Day Ideas
Bristol – or, as I like to call it, London Light – has a good nightlife, and as you will see after reading this, it has tonnes of cool stag day activities for you guys to have a laugh with. So Bristol is like a mini version of London in many ways, and that is not meant as a disparaging comment, by the way – I really like Bristol. It may be London Light, but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper, and if you ask me it offers just as much fun for a stag do.

Our Top Stag Party Ideas in Bristol
These are the best stag day activities in Bristol!
Bristol has a surprising party vibe that I think does take many first-time visitors by surprise (I know I was surprised). With loads of places to eat and a wild nightlife, Bristol is a really cool place to come. Down below I have for you the coolest activities that Bristol has to offer!
I had an awesome time at Skirmish Paintball and I am more than confident that a few hours here will be a highlight of your stag weekend. As well as offering the usual that you would expect, cool safety gear and powerful paintball guns, they offer two venues: an outdoor paintball arena, and an urban/indoor one. Each offers a totally different experience, with the outdoor one feeling like you are in the film ‘Apocalypse Now’ (complete with downed helicopter!), and the urban one feeling like the movie ‘Training Day’! A game of paintball is just awesome and there is never a dull moment in the heat of battle.
One way to have a little competitive fun during your stag do in Bristol is with a game of clay pigeon shooting. What I got a kick out of here was how you were in these little kind of hideaways as you try to shoot the clays. The guys here know their stuff and will help you be an efficient clay killer! They also have one of the most fair and sophisticated scoring systems that I have seen in a clay pigeon place. They have a gold, silver and bronze medal on offer which makes it that little bit more interesting.
I consider myself something of an expert when it comes to go karting. Sure, I may be a terrible driver, but I’ve been to enough of these places to know the good from the bad! And Team Sport is certainly one of the good ones. As well as the guys being really cool here and loving stag groups, the track is really fun to drive. There are loads of corners you can take really fast, thanks to how well the karts drive, and the multi-level indoor track also has some bits that are just perfect for a badass overtaking move. If you guys want to race then I’m sure you’ll have a blast here!
One thing that I always think is a great idea for a stag weekend is an activity that gets you guys into the great outdoors. Well, with this one you will be going outside but then underground as you partake in a bit of caving! Caving is dark, scary, wet, dirty and a lot of fun. You will explore underground caves and see some really amazing sights. It can be pretty unnerving, but you do have a guide with you at all times… even if he did not believe me that I saw someone watching us from behind a rock! Did I discover a race of subterranean people? Well, I think the evidence suggests I did. So if you go down here and find them, I want a cut of whatever money or treasure you get!
If you want to get wet and I’m not talking about a mate pouring water on you as you sleep, then you can have a lot of fun on the Bristol harbour where you can do some canoeing and kayaking. Here you will get to do a little exploration on the river, maybe have a race with your mates, and in general have a more relaxed time than with some of the other activities that I have mentioned. I consider this perfect for an afternoon activity if you have had a pretty mental morning!
Mojo Active in Bristol is a really cool outdoor activity centre. They offer a number of awesome things for your stag group to do, but the one I really want to talk about is their assault course. This course has it all: cargo nets, walls, water jumps, ropes and many other things that will get in your way. What I found was that with my group no-one was great at every single obstacle, so it made for a fairer race. This was a blast to do and even those who are not into ‘fitness’ will have a laugh here.
A few extra Bristol activities for you to consider
Here I have an extra four Bristol stag day activities for you to check out! These are some of the extra ones that I had a great time with.
Forget everything you know about football when you play, bubble football. Even the non-footballers in your stag party will have fun here. The idea is simple, this is five-aside football. Who has the most goals at the end of the game wins… Oh, and your whole upper body is in a giant inflatable zorb ball! This is just so much fun and you guys will be spending more time smashing into each other than putting the ball in the back of the net. Who knows – If you are good enough you may even get one of the Bristol ladies to be your WAG.
Next up, I have an activity that is going to really leave a mark! Most probably a mark in your underpants, but a mark none the less. I am talking about bungee jumping! Here you will be bungee jumping off a platform that is 160 feet in the air! I will fully admit that had I not been part of a group I would have turned and run away, but being in a stag group gives you that bit of encouragement to actually have a go of this! I won’t lie, this is terrifying at first, but you do feel like you’re walking on air once you’ve actually done it.
One classic stag do event (that I have got pretty damn good at, I might add) is archery. Archery is a really cool sport, and picking up the fundamentals of it takes no time at all. Plus, while you’re having a laugh, you will also want to make sure that you are the best archer in your group. Hey, you never know when Marvel are going to be looking for a new guy to play Hawkeye, so who knows what a day of archery can lead to! Most likely not to you being Hawkeye, but it will still be a fun day, I can promise you that.
I have saved the best for last, which is the West Country Games – a mental set of country-themed games that you will be taking part in, presented by a farmer and his buxom milk maids. You guys can dress the part in farmer gear and then try your hand at such games as the cider run, the pitch fork duel, tractor tyre roll and drunk pub skittles, to name but a few. This is a right good time and you guys will be laughing the whole day through. This is the craziest activity that I did in Bristol and one I still think about every now and again!
Some essential information for your Bristol stag do!
Read on to see some of the other places you should go in Bristol, to make sure you have a great stag weekend.
A good, filling breakfast
The best way to start your stag day in Bristol is at Primrose Cafe. This is not your typical greasy spoon. It’s a wee bit more sophisticated here, and a nice cup of coffee and some bacon and eggs will start your day the right way.
Where to have lunch
Stay away from any van that sells burgers. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience here! My place of choice for a nice lunch is Bells Diner, who, first of all, have quite a spectacular wine list. And they also have a very varied menu of food for you guys, which is always great for a stag group that’s bound to have at least one fussy eater. My personal recommendation here is the roast pork.
What about taxis?
Times to avoid Bristol
There’s no specific time that makes coming here a nightmare, but like I said above, Bristol is a university city. So if you find students annoying as hell (which, let’s face it, some of them are) you may want to try and avoid term-time here. But that is it really; if you can deal with pretentious students then there’s not really a bad time to come to Bristol.
Sport in Bristol
Probably the biggest sporting institution here in Bristol is the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, which is one of the biggest cricket clubs in the UK. There’s also Bristol City Football Club, which is in League 1 of the English football league.
Festivals In Bristol
Bristol has some pretty cool festivals going on during the year. One of the best and most popular is the Bristol Harbour Festival. This has a nautical theme, and the festival (which lasts a few days) has a tonne of games, live music, the arts, and of course plenty of alcohol going on as well. And let’s face it, a festival is really just an excuse to start drinking at 10am. If you’re walking around with a beer at 10am in town, you’ll get a funny look, but during a festival no-one gives a toss.
What about a pharmacy?
If you’ve had too much to drink and need something to sooth your puking guts, or if you have a gash on your leg which would just result in to many uncomfortable questions at the emergency room, then you will need a pharmacy. Any stag do can have an ‘accident’, and if yours does, then Boots are open until midnight, so they are your best bet.
